Architectural

These are the first paintings I created at the community centre, to help me overcome my agoraphobia (see my Biography) and start me on my way into the art world.
I used these to go traveling in, when I couldn’t. Each one has a path, or route, through which you could imagine going on a journey. The earlier works were just greys and blue sky. The later ones, Cloisters and Islands include more colour as my confidence grew.

They are painted in 12 shades of grey, all pre-mixed in numbered pots. When I painted them I had a copy of the drawing next to me so I could mark which shade of grey went where.
All are acrylic on card. Dimensions are the actual painting sizes. The mounted, framed originals are approx 48 x 58cm.
