Early Predetermined Randomness

These are my first predetermined randomness paintings before moving onto the personal Unique series.

The first two are based on searchword puzzles.
Evergreen is made up of gardening words, with the reds, oranges and yellows being the vowels, while the consonants are represented by 21 shades of green.
Forty Two is made up of words from Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. So somewhere in there are Arthur Dent, Zaphod Beeblebrox and Slartibartfast.
15 Across is a crossword puzzle loosely based on classical music.
Thirteen is based on the first paragraph of George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty Four. The colours match parts of the book; silver for the telescreen, blue for the overalls, red for the Anti-sex League sash and green for the countryside that Winston and Julia travel to. The canvas is the shape of a book while the colours represent the type. I was lucky that the paragraph fitted perfectly.
